lyrics

Cross county, cross country, cross national lines.
Autumn settles in for its limited run.
A seasonal change sets tree lines ablaze,
a temperate wind sets free leaf from limb,
and I'm reminded again of nature's pure grace.
Cruise the back country roads, take it easy and slow,
past farms' fertile fields and stacks of baled hay.
The smell of manure strikes at the nose,
corn fills the fields in row after row,
and the sunshine slashes the hillsides
wherever I go.
I fit in my role, a round peg in it's hole,
and it's taken some time, I got to admit.
Life passes by my narrowing stride
and I hope I don't slip on the shit.
So review and rewind these limited times,
as autumn will cause a time to reflect.
I sit at the bar, see friends I ain't seen,
in a decade or so, tell me where have they been.
Then I'm reminded it's me who fell out from them
